Stephen the Great, Prince of Moldavia, defended his land against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. After a major victory, instead of celebrating with a feast, he fasted and prayed. He then built the Putna Monastery as an act of gratitude to God. Every stone was a testament to his faith.
