Calinic of Cernica, before monasticism known as Constantin Caraman, showed early devotion, memorizing the Psalter by age 12. He became a monk at Cernica Monastery, advancing through monastic ranks and eventually becoming its abbot. During a plague, he tirelessly cared for the sick. Later, as Bishop of Râmnic, he focused on church restoration, education, and charitable works, establishing schools and printing presses. His life exemplified dedication to God and service to others, leaving behind a legacy of spiritual and material renewal in the Romanian Orthodox Church. May his prayers guide us.
