He later retreated to Vasiova, carving a hermitage from stone, his days filled with prayer and nights with vigils. His asceticism drew others seeking solace and guidance. Villagers afflicted by drought sought his intercession; with fervent prayer, he struck the earth with his staff, and a spring gushed forth, quenching their thirst.
