Saint Priest Martyr Alexandru of Basarabia, born Alexander Baltaga, fearlessly served during the Bolshevik occupation. Arrested for defending his flock and faith, he endured torture and imprisonment. He refused to renounce Christ, even when promised freedom and honors. On June 19, 1919, he was executed near Odessa. His last words were prayers for his persecutors.
