Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, faced persecution for their unwavering faith during the reign of Diocletian. Arrested for their Christian beliefs, they refused to offer sacrifices to pagan idols. Despite brutal tortures, including beatings and lacerations, they remained steadfast. Their courage and resilience impressed even their tormentors. Ultimately, they were drowned at Singidunum (modern Belgrade) around 304 AD, achieving martyrdom.
