Philotheia, a young girl in 16th-century Romania, was known for her kindness and devotion. Her stepmother, envious of Philotheia's piety and charitable acts, treated her cruelly. One day, while bringing food to her father working in the fields, her stepmother falsely accused her of damaging the food. Enraged, the stepmother struck Philotheia with an axe, killing her. Her relics, known for their miraculous properties, are venerated at the Curtea de Argeș Monastery.
