In 1760, during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa, Orthodox Christians in Transylvania faced pressure to convert to Catholicism. Martyr Oprea of Săliştea, a simple peasant, stood firm in his Orthodox faith. He openly confessed his beliefs and encouraged others to resist conversion. Arrested and tortured, he refused to renounce Orthodoxy. He was eventually hanged for his unwavering faith, becoming a symbol of resistance against religious oppression.

Holy Martyr Oprea, pray to God for us to stand firm in our faith during trials and tribulations! #OrthodoxSaint #RomanianOrthodox #Martyr #Faith #Prayer
