Elijah Iorest, born in 1899, became Metropolitan of Ardeal during a tumultuous period. Amidst communist oppression, he stood as a beacon of faith, courageously defending the Orthodox Church. He was arrested and imprisoned for his beliefs. Despite immense pressure, he refused to compromise his faith or cooperate with the regime, embodying unwavering devotion. He was released after a long time and died shortly after.
