Bishop Calinic of Râmnic, born in 1787, felt a deep spiritual calling from a young age. He joined the Cernica Monastery and became a monk, renowned for his ascetic life and wisdom. Later, during a cholera epidemic, he tirelessly cared for the sick and dying, risking his own life to bring them comfort and spiritual guidance. This selfless act earned him widespread respect and admiration. He was later chosen as Bishop of Râmnic, where he continued his pastoral work, focusing on educating the clergy and strengthening the faith of his flock.
