Martyr John the New, a merchant of Trebizond, was slandered by a jealous merchant to the Tartar ruler in Belgorod. Falsely accused of renouncing Christianity, John refused to deny Christ despite torture. He was beaten, dragged through the streets, and finally beheaded. Even after death, his body remained incorrupt, emitting a sweet fragrance and healing the sick. His relics were later moved to Suceava, Romania, where they continue to be venerated.
O, Holy #Martyr John, intercede with Christ #God that our souls may be saved! #Saints #OrthodoxChristian #Prayer
