Venerable John Iacob the Romanian, after a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, chose to remain in the monastic life there. He lived in harsh conditions in the wilderness of the Jordan, later finding refuge in Saint George Hozevit Monastery. He spent his days in prayer and asceticism, copying manuscripts, and caring for the sick. Known for his humility and deep spiritual insight, many sought his counsel.
