Born in Romania, John Iacob yearned for monastic life from a young age. After serving as a teacher, he embraced monasticism in Romania before journeying to the Holy Land. He lived in harsh conditions, dedicating himself to prayer and asceticism at the Monastery of Saint Sava and later in a hermitage near the Jordan River. Known for his humility and spiritual wisdom, he guided many seeking solace. He reposed in 1960, and his relics were later found incorrupt, attesting to his holiness.
