Martyr John the New, a merchant of Trebizond, was falsely accused of renouncing Christianity by a jealous merchant in Belgorod. Despite being tortured to renounce his faith, John steadfastly refused. He was beaten, dragged through the streets, and eventually beheaded. Even after death, his body remained incorrupt, and many miracles occurred at his tomb, confirming his sanctity.
