Venerable Dimitrie lived as a simple peasant, dedicating his life to prayer and humility. After his death, his body was discovered incorrupt near the village of Basarabi. During a Tatar invasion, his relics were moved to protect them. Placed on a cart pulled by oxen, the cart miraculously stopped near Bucharest. The relics were then enshrined in the Metropolitan Cathedral, where they remain to this day, a source of blessing and healing.
