Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, was chosen as Patriarch despite his protests. Known for his strict asceticism and deep spirituality, he confronted Emperor Andronicus II for his immoral life. Niphon prophesied the fall of Constantinople to the Turks. After abdicating, he lived a life of repentance and prayer, working miracles. Pray that his example of courage and faith inspires us to uphold righteousness.
