In 1918, when Bessarabia united with Romania, Alexandru Nemțeanu championed the rights of Romanians and the #OrthodoxChurch amidst political turmoil. Arrested in 1919 for defending these rights, he was released but continued his advocacy, earning the respect of his community. In 1930, he was consecrated as a vicar bishop. The Soviet invasion in 1940 led to his arrest. Accused of anti-Soviet activities, he was imprisoned and brutally tortured. He died in prison in 1941, becoming a symbol of resistance against oppression.
