During World War I, Priest-Confessor John of Galeş was known for his bravery. When the Romanian army retreated through his village, he refused to leave his parishioners. Instead, he stood at the church entrance, offering blessings and words of courage to the soldiers. He then turned the church into a makeshift hospital, tending to the wounded day and night. Despite the dangers of enemy occupation, he continued to serve, providing food, shelter, and spiritual guidance to all in need. He became a symbol of hope amid despair.
Lord, grant us the strength of faith like Priest John, to serve others in times of adversity.
