Venerable John Iacob the Romanian, after serving in a Romanian monastery, yearned for the solitude of the desert. He journeyed to the Holy Land and lived as a hermit in the wilderness near the Jordan River. Despite the harsh conditions and temptations, he dedicated himself to prayer, fasting, and writing spiritual poems. He later moved to the Monastery of Saint George Hozevit, where he became a librarian and physician, tending to the monks' spiritual and physical needs. His love for God and his fellow man shone brightly until his repose in 1960.

Holy #JohnIacob, intercede for us before the throne of #God! May your prayers guide us to repentance and a life dedicated to serving others. #Saints #OrthodoxChristian #Prayer #Romania
