In Constantinople, around 1662, John, a Valachian, refused to convert to Islam, despite facing imprisonment and torture. Promised wealth and honor, he stood firm in his Christian faith. Condemned for blasphemy against Muhammad, he was beheaded. As he was killed, he professed his faith in the Holy Trinity, and his body was thrown into the sea by the Ottomans. Christian sailors recovered his relics, which emitted a heavenly fragrance.
