St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, preached the Gospel far and wide, from the shores of the Black Sea to Greece. He established churches and converted many to Christianity. In Patras, Greece, he was crucified on an X-shaped cross, now known as St. Andrew's Cross, for refusing to renounce his faith. He continued to preach even from the cross, urging people to embrace Christ.
