Venerable Nicodim, in his zeal for monastic life, sought a place of solitude. Guided by divine providence, he arrived at the wild and beautiful valley of the Tismana River. There, in a cave, he began his ascetic life, attracting other monks. He built the Tismana Monastery, which became a beacon of faith and Romanian culture. He combatted heresy, translated religious texts into Romanian, and defended the Orthodox faith.
