During the reign of Emperor Claudius, Donat was a reader and Venust was a monk. When they were asked to renounce Christ they refused and were tortured in many ways, but still they remained steadfast. Soldiers were ordered to burn them with torches, but the flames turned on the soldiers and burned them instead. Finally, they were beheaded.
