The angel Gabriel appeared to a young virgin named Mary in Nazareth, Galilee. He told her she would conceive and bear a son, Jesus, who would be called the Son of the Most High, and his kingdom would have no end. Mary, though puzzled by this extraordinary message, humbly accepted God's will, responding, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." Her faith and obedience marked the beginning of salvation for humanity.
