Venerable John Iacob the Romanian left his village at age 12 to study. After serving in the Romanian army during World War II as a medic, he felt drawn to monastic life. He journeyed to the Holy Land, joining the Romanian Skete of Saint John the Baptist near the Jordan River. There, he transcribed patristic texts and lived a life of severe asceticism. Later, he became the Abbot of the Skete. He was later assigned to Saint George Hozevit Monastery where he served as a hermit. He reposed in 1960.
Holy #Saint John, pray to #God for us to emulate your dedication and service! May your example inspire us to seek a life of deeper #Faith and devotion. #OrthodoxChristian #Prayer #Monasticism
