Saint Andrew, brother of Peter, was fishing on the Sea of Galilee when Jesus called him to be an apostle. Andrew immediately left his nets and followed Christ, becoming the "First-Called." He preached the Gospel throughout Scythia and Greece, facing persecution and ultimately being crucified in Patras on an X-shaped cross.
