Born into a pious family in Macedonia, Joseph felt a strong pull towards monastic life. He joined Partoş Monastery and quickly became known for his humility and devotion. Despite his reluctance, he was chosen as Metropolitan of Timişoara. During Ottoman rule, he bravely defended his flock, negotiated with authorities, and provided aid to the poor. Even after his death, his relics were said to have healing powers, a testament to his holy life.
