Venerable Dimitrie lived as a simple shepherd. After his death, during a Tartar invasion, his relics were placed in the river for safekeeping. Years later, the relics were revealed to a paralytic girl, who was told in a dream that she would be healed if Dimitrie's body was recovered. The river miraculously swelled, carrying the relics to the riverbank. The girl was healed, and Dimitrie was recognized as a saint.
