Martyr Nicander, a Roman soldier, was converted to Christianity by Saint Hermas. Moved by Hermas's unwavering faith amidst torture, Nicander embraced Christ and began openly confessing his new beliefs. His fellow soldier, Marcian, witnessed Nicander's transformation and followed suit. Both men dedicated themselves to burying the bodies of martyred Christians, providing them dignified rest. They were eventually arrested, subjected to brutal tortures, and ultimately beheaded for their faith during the reign of Emperor Maximian.
