Hieromartyr #Antim the #Ivirian, a Georgian, was Metropolitan of Wallachia. Skilled in languages and arts, he established the first printing press in Bucharest, publishing liturgical books in Romanian, Slavonic, and Greek. Despite his efforts to educate and spiritually guide his flock, political intrigues led to his unjust deposition and exile. In 1716, he was murdered by Turkish soldiers while being led to his place of banishment, sealing his martyrdom. May his prayers intercede for us.
