On August 15, 1714, Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu of Wallachia and his four sons—Constantin, Stephen, Radu, and Matthew—were beheaded in Constantinople after refusing to renounce their Christian faith for Islam. Brâncoveanu, who had ruled for over 25 years, was promised safety and continuation of his reign if he converted. He chose martyrdom alongside his sons. Their steadfast faith inspired many, and they were glorified as saints by the Romanian Orthodox Church. Let us pray for their intercession, that we may remain strong in our beliefs and unwavering in our devotion to Christ.
