Orthodox Priest Dumitru Stăniloae, exiled and imprisoned under the communist regime, continued his theological work in secret. While incarcerated, he translated and commented on the Philokalia, a collection of writings by early Church Fathers on prayer and spiritual life. Despite hardship, Stăniloae's spirit remained unbroken, his faith unwavering. He saw suffering as an opportunity to deepen his connection with God. Even his guards and fellow inmates were inspired by his resilience and kindness.

Let us pray that, inspired by Stăniloae, we also find strength and purpose amidst adversity, and may his intercessions guide us toward a life of faith and unwavering love for God.
