Born in Epivat, Thrace, to pious parents, Saint Paraschiva showed early devotion to God. Upon hearing the Gospel, she was moved to give her garments to the poor. Leaving her family, she journeyed to Constantinople and then to the Jordanian desert, embracing an ascetic life. After years of solitude and prayer, an angel instructed her to return to her homeland. She lived a life of humility in Epivat, and upon her death, her relics were discovered incorrupt, emitting a sweet fragrance and working miracles.
