In Constantinople, young John, a Wallachian, refused to convert to Islam, despite being handsomely favored by a Turkish official who desired to adopt him. Enduring imprisonment and torture, John's resolve never wavered. Before his execution, he declared Christ as his life and light. He was beheaded on May 12, 1662.
