Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, was chosen as Patriarch of Constantinople in 1310. Known for his strict ascetic life and defense of #Orthodox doctrine, he faced political turmoil. Forced to resign, he retreated but was later asked to lead the Metropolis of Țara Românească. There, he reformed the church, promoted monasticism, and supported the poor. He foretold his death, urging his flock to remain steadfast in faith.
