Hieromartyr Antim the Ivirian, a Georgian by birth, was a skilled calligrapher, woodcarver, and theologian. As Metropolitan of Wallachia, he championed Romanian literacy, establishing the first printing press in the Romanian language. His sermons moved hearts, his writings defended Orthodox doctrine. Accused of treason and exiled, he was murdered in 1716. May his prayers intercede for us, that we may be as bold in our faith and as dedicated to God's work.
