Venerable Theodora lived a life of prayer and solitude in the Carpathian Mountains. Married early, she and her husband entered monastic life, each in separate monasteries. After a time, with her abbot's blessing, Theodora withdrew to a more secluded hermitage near Sihla. She lived in a cave, facing extreme weather, wild animals, and temptations, deepening her union with God through unceasing prayer. Villagers sometimes saw her levitating during prayer. After years of asceticism, guided by an angel, she communed with a priest just before her death.
